Casefile audit is essential to maintaining data quality in a social and health care environment. Normally the audit process is relatively tedious - there is no substitute for reading
through a sample of casefiles and to use an appropriate evaluation basis to record key information about the adequacy of the file and its contents. Normally this recording of casefile quality is done manually -onto
paper forms which are then analysed and placed on the file.
Now a system for recording case file quality, embodying a well-tried evaluation and audit tool, is available. This can be used either stand-alone or as part of a network of
evaluators. In either case, the information is captured electronically, so that analyses can be carried out.
The system provides printed copies of the evaluation of each case file (if required), as well as detailed analyses of the data - casefile quality by team, type of service user,
individual social worker, for example, so that remedial action to improve data quality can b undertaken.
